Lakeview Christian Academy Presentation
Only One Life
Only One Life
By Charles Thomas Studd, Missionary to China, India, and Africa
Two little lines I heard one day, Traveling along life’s busy way;
Bringing conviction to my heart, And from my mind would not depart;
Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.
Only one life, yes only one, Soon will its fleeting hours be done;
Then, in ‘that day’ my Lord to meet, And stand before His Judgment seat;
Only one life,’ twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.
Only one life, the still small voice, Gently pleads for a better choice
Bidding me selfish aims to leave, And to God’s holy will to cleave;
Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.
Only one life, a few brief years, Each with its burdens, hopes, and fears;
Each with its clays I must fulfill, living for self or in His will;
Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.
When this bright world would tempt me sore, When Satan would a victory score;
When self would seek to have its way, Then help me Lord with joy to say;
Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.
Give me Father, a purpose deep, In joy or sorrow Thy word to keep;
Faithful and true what e’er the strife, Pleasing Thee in my daily life;
Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.
Oh let my love with fervor burn, And from the world now let me turn;
Living for Thee, and Thee alone, Bringing Thee pleasure on Thy throne;
Only one life, “twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.
Only one life, yes only one, Now let me say, “Thy will be done”;
And when at last I’ll hear the call, I know I’ll say ’twas worth it all”;
Only one life,’ twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.

RADIO PROGRAM
Here is a presentation I gave at a radio station in Duluth MN on the 3rd of June. It was done in a Christian radio station (Walking with Jesus Christ) and the message was aimed at Christians, telling them about my salvation story and how they can draw closer to God. If you are not yet a Christian, you can listen to it to learn a little about what Christians believe. Please as you listen, try to get the big picture and wait to the end before you criticize it. I will love to discuss with anyone who has questions. The program is 1 hour long. I pray you find encouragement as you listen. Please just click on the link and it should work with windows media player.

In the interview, I mentioned that some people said I should wait till the fall of 2007 before going to school in a bigger school or as some of them put it, a better school, but I chose to come in the spring to the University of Wisconsin, Superior. Let me say that I love the University of Wisconsin, Superior. It is a small campus and it has a wonderful student-to-faculty ratio and gives you an opportunity to get involved.

ORIGIN
No matter what you believe about the origin of the universe, you are going to get to a point where you have to rely on something eternal, that is something which itself was not created, and which is outside of time, matter and space, bringing the universe into existence out of nothing. In Christianity, that thing is not a THING, it is a PERSON. It is God, the Creator of the Heavens and the earth, the I AM (the ABSOLUTE ULTIMATE reality because He IS. He remains the same from Generation to Generation). The GOOD NEWS is that you can know Him through a relationship with Jesus Christ, His Begotten Son. Christianity is not a religion; it is a relationship with God. He is real. He meets people at the point of their need so please ask Him to meet you and reveal Himself to you.
